Reception and Year 1

Jenny Alvarez earned her Bachelor’s degree in Preschool Education in 2013. She has been in education for more than ten years, through private tutoring and in the school system. In her kindergarten and elementary experience, she has guided students for ages 1,5 year, up to 11. Jenny has worked in different contexts passing by IB Schools, kindergartens inspired by Reggio Emilia’s Approach, traditional curriculum schools, values, and capacities framework schools, and investigation in universities. All in her country, Colombia, and also abroad, in the Dominican Republic, and New Zealand. She loves learning and sharing her knowledge, so she feels grateful that she can do the things that she is passionate about. She truly believes that the teaching should be in response to the previous experience, needs, and interests of students, so their needs are best served when they have opportunities to engage in learning within love and meaningful contexts

Ana Milena Vargas

Ana Milena is a children’s educator with 20 years of experience working with children. She enjoys every day to the fullest and is committed to her work.
She has a lovely family and loves spending time with her husband and son during her free time.

Mariana Puerto López

Year 3 Homeroom & Social Studies Teacher - Primary Section

Mariana Puerto López was born in Bogotá, Colombia, and is deeply proud of her roots and the place she comes from. She is passionate about reading, cinema, and music, and enjoys learning, exploring other cultures, and discovering different ways of understanding life and the world.
Regarding her academic background, she studied History, with an emphasis on Art History, and holds a Master’s degree in Cultural Studies. She is currently specializing in Education. She has six years of experience teaching in Colombian educational institutions, as well as several additional years of experience as a private tutor, particularly as a guitar teacher and Social Sciences support teacher.
She is an empathetic, sensitive, and committed person who deeply values the communities she belongs to. She enjoys learning from others and is always willing to give her best to raise awareness and contribute to positive transformations in society.

Camila Vargas

Camila Andrea Vargas Medrano holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education and has 12 years of teaching experience. Throughout her career, she has designed meaningful learning experiences, specializing in bilingual education, the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP), and student-centered teaching approaches. She is passionate about fostering curiosity, critical thinking, and creativity while creating engaging learning environments where every student can reach their full potential. Beyond the classroom, she enjoys cinema as a source of inspiration to encourage reflection, communication, and an appreciation of diverse perspectives.

Paola Carolina Gil

Paola Gil graduated with a degree in Biology in 2002 and has more than 20 years of experience in the field of education. Throughout her career, she has had the opportunity to work with both Primary and Secondary students in different educational models, bilingual contexts, and diverse approaches to scientific knowledge.
She is passionate about designing engaging, dynamic and meaningful learning experiences that foster the development of scientific skills in her students. She particularly enjoys teaching and introducing her students to the fascinating world of science, helping them discover its connections to everyday life.
She firmly believes that meaningful learning is built through a holistic approach to student support, taking into account their emotions, motivations and interests, while connecting knowledge to meaningful and relevant contexts that allow them to better understand the world around them.

Fabiana holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education and has nearly 30 years of experience in education. She has worked in private and international schools as both a teacher and an academic leader, specializing in bilingual education, the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP), and project-based learning. She is passionate about supporting the holistic development of her students by encouraging curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning.

Angie Claro

Angie, a proud native of Cúcuta, Colombia, holds a degree in Spanish and Philology from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. Her passion for learning and teaching languages has driven her to master Spanish, English, French, Italian, and also study German, Classical Greek, and Latin.
From a young age, Angie knew she wanted to be a teacher, and education has since become her true calling. She views teaching as a profound journey of self-discovery for both her students and herself.
In her free time, Angie enjoys reading philosophy, watching movies, and dancing, always seeking new ways to engage with the world around her. Her dedication to lifelong learning and fostering curiosity makes her an inspiring educator.

Amanda Galindo

She is an educator by vocation, a Classical Philologist by passion, and a lifelong believer in the transformative power of learning. With more than 14 years of experience in education, she has dedicated her career to designing pedagogical, playful, and cultural experiences that spark curiosity in her students.
Her journey in education goes beyond the traditional classroom. She also enjoys creating academic and literary content and has had the privilege of training future educators at the National University of Colombia and advising teachers on their classroom projects with the District Secretariat of Education (SED).
She describes herself as an analytical and empathetic professional with a strategic mindset and a strong attention to detail. She firmly believes in collaborative work and in creating educational environments where every student can reach their full potential.

Daniel Mesa

Social Studies Teacher Secondary

Daniel Mesa is a historian, educator, and social entrepreneur born in Bogotá. He graduated from the University of the Andes and holds a master’s degree in Peacebuilding and another in Entrepreneurship and Innovation. He has extensive experience in historical memory, pedagogy, and social impact projects. He has been an International Baccalaureate (IB) teacher in History and Global Politics, as well as head of the Social Sciences department, with more than five years of experience in bilingual teaching. He has led social responsibility and internationalization processes, including social reintegration projects for former combatants in the armed conflict. He has worked at institutions such as the Banco de la República, where he researched the M-19, Esmeralda Arboleda, and Radio Sutatenza, and at the Colombian Embassy in Washington. His career combines research, teaching, and the design of innovative projects with cultural and social impact. He currently works at DianaUribe.fm, creating historical and cultural content. As an educator, he is passionate about creating spaces for critical reflection and creativity in his students, connecting history with contemporary challenges.

Gonzalo Zamora

Gonzalo Zamora was born in Bogotá and is 41 years old. He is a bilingual Mathematics and Physics educator with over 15 years of experience in secondary education, working with international curricula such as IB (MYP/DP) and Edexcel IGCSE. His teaching focuses on developing deep understanding and encouraging students to think independently. He integrates technology, including AI, to support learning in a meaningful way. Gonzalo is known for building warm and respectful relationships with his students, creating a positive classroom environment. Outside of teaching, he has played classical guitar since the age of 17 and enjoys playing volleyball and working out.

Natalia Quiñones

Natalia Quiñones Morales has a Physics degree from the Universidad Pedagógica Nacional of Colombia. She is trained in instructing the IB Diploma Program Mathematics and she is currently an Examiner of IB. Natalia has more than 20 years’ experience as a teacher in Primary and Secondary for Physics, Mathematics, Geometry and Logic. She considers teaching a good opportunity to help the world and children. Natalia enjoys spending time outdoors, and with her pets.

Sonia Castro

Sonia joined KSI on 2017, holds a Master of Science degree in Physics, a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering and a Bachelor of Physics from Los Andes University. Sonia started as a university teacher when she was doing her masters but found that her passion was teaching High School students. Since then, 8 years ago, Sonia has been attending multiple workshops from the IBO to further develop her skills as a DP and PYP teacher. Since 2006 Sonia has joined the team of authors of the MYP e-assessment on Physics and is a passionate writer of exams and units designer. Sonia enjoys being with her family and friends and activities related with her Catholic faith. Sonia believes the school creates a space that promotes creative and innovative ways to teach in a respectful and challenging environment. Sonia strives to allow students to ‘Be all they can be’.

Alberto Holguín

English Teacher, Interpreter and Translator; Master in Performing Arts (Actor and Stage Director), deeply interested in projects related to education and arts and interested also in the way arts affect how we learn and offer contexts to develop new skill sets to face everyday challenges. Alberto has worked for over twenty years as an English Teacher, and has had the chance of translating several books for two Publishing Companies. As a teacher he has also helped people succeed in attaining passing scores in international exams and worked as a Cambridge Oral Examiner for a year. Before the lockdown, he was acting and directing in the play Salvajes, which was staged in different local theatres and schools. A believer and a pet lover who enjoys physical activity, reading, drawing, and learning new things, and is currently exploring what digital media has to offer in storytelling. He believes people and relationships are vital and that education can help shape our future in a more positive direction.

Nathalia Valdés Cano

Nathalia holds a degree in Visual Arts from the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana and completed the International Postgraduate Certificate in Education (iPGCE) at the University of Derby. Throughout her career, she has worked at international schools, where she has discovered that what she enjoys most is helping students develop their creativity and confidence.
For Nathalia, art is a way to explore ideas, express emotions, and understand the world from different perspectives. She enjoys creating an environment where her students feel free to experiment, take creative risks, and develop their own artistic voice.

Diego Farieta

Teacher guide, counselor and facilitator of Basic Bachelor’s Degree with emphasis in Humanities and Spanish Language at Corporación Universitaria Minuto de Dios (Bogotá). Specialist in Virtual Learning Environments of the Organization of Ibero-American States (Argentina). Teacher of the course Lengua A: IB Language and Literature. Qualified in project work, implementing strategies focused on problem solving to promote communication and interaction scenarios with students. Diego has also supported in the execution of the different processes for the certification of the IB MYP program from the subject of language and literature. The development of the IB PEP program from language and communication. As well as in the development of strategies for monograph advising from language and literature, also as a supervisor of monographs.

Jorge Andrés Durán Beltrán holds a bachelor’s degree in Basic Education with a concentration in Social Sciences and is a specialist in Social Management of Education. He has more than 16 years of experience teaching Social Sciences, Economics, and Political Science at bilingual institutions, promoting critical thinking, citizenship, and meaningful learning.

Throughout his career, he has led academic departments, coordinated institutional projects, and advised numerous Model United Nations (MUN) programs, such as SIMONU in Bogotá and the MUN in Toluca, Mexico, training students in leadership, public speaking, and diplomacy. As an educator, she believes in a dynamic and innovative education, in which knowledge is built through dialogue, research, and challenges that inspire students to understand the world and become engaged citizens.

She has 5 years of experience in bilingual teaching and 2 as a researcher. She loves learning languages, researching, and traveling, as well as maintaining a fitness-based lifestyle.
