Moving to Bogotá with children? Start with a school that listens

A move to a new country brings more than a change of address. For a child, it can mean a new language, unfamiliar routines and the work of finding friends again.

At KSI Bogotá, we help families explore that transition as individuals. Our strong focus on wellbeing helps our students feel safe and comfortable. This combined with small classes and language support facilitates the introduction to our bilingual IB World School in Guaymaral.

Your child does not have to start from the same place as everyone else

We welcome students with limited English or Spanish. During admissions, we discuss their language experience, year group and learning needs so we can explain the support available and the pathway appropriate to them.

Our English as a Second Language and Spanish as a Second Language support helps students develop their English or Spanish while becoming more confident participants in school life. Spanish-language support is also available for those who need it.

We want to understand what your child already knows, not mistake a developing language for a lack of ability.

Building towards B2 English and beyond

For students receiving English-language support, our aim is to help them work towards at least B2 on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, with progress goals appropriate to their age and starting point.

B2 describes an intermediate level at which a learner can understand the main ideas of clear communication about familiar topics, produce straightforward connected text and give brief explanations of experiences or opinions.

Small classes help a new school feel more personal

With an average class size of 15, teachers have more opportunity to notice how a student is settling in, participating and understanding their learning.

Our semi-personalised approach considers the child’s strengths alongside areas that need support. A quiet first few weeks, an unfamiliar curriculum or a different way of expressing ideas should be a reason to listen closely, not to define the student by a label.

Belonging is part of the transition

We place importance on the social and emotional side of joining a school. Face-to-face learning gives children opportunities to build relationships, practise everyday communication and participate in a community beyond their immediate family.

We want students to feel secure enough to ask a question, try unfamiliar language and share what they bring from their own background. Learning, confidence and connection deserve attention together.

An education that looks ahead

Alongside our IB pathway, students encounter an approach to technology grounded in critical thinking and thoughtful use. We want them to understand and evaluate tools, not simply become dependent on them.

Families with student-athletes can also explore PEAK, our programme that aims to bring competitive sport and rigorous academic study into a balanced school experience.

Don’t wait until you arrive in Bogotá to start the admissions process

You can complete the entire admissions process online, from your first conversation with us to the final steps before enrollment.

We have flexible options designed to support families relocating from other cities or countries, so when you arrive in Bogotá, your child can be ready to start from day one.

Start your KSI journey from wherever you are.

Open Days every day, planned around your questions

Tell us when you expect to be in Bogotá and what you would like to understand. We can plan a personalised school-day visit around your child’s language needs, learning experience, interests and wellbeing.

Still abroad? Contact Admissions to begin the conversation and discuss the arrangements available before an in-person visit. Applications are welcome throughout the year, with entry arrangements subject to the admissions review and available places.

We will also explain the applicable school fees and any additional language or specialist support charges, so you can consider the full picture before making a decision.
